Abstract:
This study analyses electoral participation in the 2013 Chamber of Deputies election. The explanation of the electoral participation in 2013 election is compared to that of previous elections. Thanks to this strategy, it is possible to see whether there was any change in the effect of various resources or motivations. In addition to that, the study brings two important innovations to previous analyses of electoral participation in the Czech Republic. First, it uses one of the classic explanations of electoral participation (the sense of civic duty) which has never been used in the studies of the Czech voters. Second, it uses broader operationalization of mobilization activities which contains not only contacting by the candidate but also persuading by household members, friends and colleagues, and the way how this persuasion happened.

Keywords: turnout, duty to vote, direct and indirect mobilization
